Programs designed to recover Mac data must be able to deal with the intricacies of the Apple/Mac HFS file system. This unique and particular type of digital media formatting differs completely from that use by Windows. The HFS system was designed to coincide and work well with the older Mac type/creator file extension system. This system which was used on all versions of the Mac operating system prior to Mac OS X allowed a preclassification of applications.
What this meant was that simply by using the type/creator file in a search one could avoid the need for a complicated folder structure such as used in Windows. Many aspects of this older Apple operating system are still in place. This means that when we attempt to recover Mac files using the latest Mac recovery software on a Mac running OS X our software must still be able to recognize the older file structure. Only the most advanced and powerful Mac recovery programs such as those offered by Remo Software are capable of doing this.
